FAQs
Quick answers to your most common questions.
Cannabidiol, more commonly referred to as CBD, is one of more than 80 compounds called cannabinoids found in hemp and cannabis. CBD is non-toxic and doesn't cause a feeling of being "high."
Is CBD legal?CBD derived from hemp became federally legal in all 50 states on December 20, 2018, when President Donald Trump signed the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018.
More commonly known as the "2018 Farm Bill", this legislation removed hemp from the Controlled Substances Act, legalizing its cultivation and the sale of hemp-derived products at the federal level.
Just like you, your pet has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that plays a vital role in helping your pet's body stay healthy and happy. Plant cannabinoids like CBD interact with your pet's body via the ECS. This, in turn, helps reduce a wide range of symptoms.

The safety profile of CBD is well established but, as with any medication or supplement, there is always the potential for an adverse reaction.
However, if you give your pet a high-quality CBD product specially formulated for pets, there is no reason why you should not be able to give him CBD safely.
Our position is that you should avoid giving your pet a CBD product that contains THC. Instead, we feel it's better to choose a broad-spectrum CBD product specially formulated for cats or dogs. A broad-spectrum, THC-free product still includes the full spectrum of cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes, but with the THC removed.
The reason for this is that different animal species will react differently to THC. For instance, dogs can be highly sensitive to its psychoactive properties. On the other hand, cats seem to be less susceptible.
More and more vets are becoming aware of the potential benefits of using CBD for pets. They are also aware of the obligation to their patients to consider it as a treatment option. You may find your vet is quite open to discussing using CBD for your pet. Just make sure you're prepared with a list of questions and don't be afraid to ask for what your pet needs.
Unfortunately, some vets may not be comfortable discussing the use of CBD for your pet. If this happens, we recommend contacting a specially trained or holistic veterinarian in your area as they tend to be more open to and aware of the evolving CBD research.
No. Our policy is to avoid using CBD extracts that contain even the smallest amounts of THC - the cannabinoid that produces the "high" associated with cannabis.
All ElovaPet CBD products are formulated with 100% THC-free broad-spectrum CBD extracts that are non-toxic and non-intoxicating, making them perfectly safe to give to your pet.
Always follow the dosing guidelines on the label, but generally, CBD dosage for pets depends on how much your pet weighs and for what you are using it.
A basic rule of thumb is that the larger your pet and the more serious the condition, the higher the CBD dose should be. If you want to know more about CBD dosing for pets, you can read more about it here [link to Everything You Need to Know About Hemp CBD for Pets]
CBD has repeatedly been shown to be safe, even at high dosages, with no recorded incidences of death resulting from overdosing in either humans or pets.
So although you shouldn't have anything to worry about, it's still a good idea to monitor your dog or cat for excessive drowsiness, nausea, or diarrhea. If you're worried, always contact your vet.
Is there anything better than this?
This is a tricky question because there are so many different factors involved, including the type of product you are using, its level of bioavailability as well as your pet's physiology.
Generally speaking, CBD oil for acute conditions like anxiety should typically start to work within 30-60 minutes. But remember that CBD oils dropped in the mouth of your pet will work faster than CBD oil mixed with their food or CBD treats.
For chronic issues like joint pain and mobility, it may take as long as 2 to 4 weeks to see optimal results.
ElovaPet CBD products contain non-toxic, THC-free, broad-spectrum CBD extracts that are 100% free of any synthetic or artificial ingredients. Our products are formulated to have no side-effects and to be safe for your furry friends.
However, some animals can be sensitive to either CBD or some other ingredient.
Always start with a low dose to make sure your pet doesn't experience an adverse effect before increasing the dosage amount.
Theoretically, you can, but as with any other medication or supplement, we recommend you speak to your veterinarian first.
Can I give my pet ElovaPet CBD products if they are on medications?CBD can have harmful interactions with other medications. If your pet is on prescription supplements or medications, we advise you to consult with your veterinarian before giving your dog or cat CBD.
Potential drug interactions include (but are not limited to):
Antihistamines
Antibiotics
Antiviral medications
Heart and blood pressure medications
Steroids
Immune system modulators
